Enrolment Policy

The St Agnes' Primary School Enrolment Policy was based on and supported by the 'Enrolment Policy For Schools Within the Archdiocesan System' (1998)'.

A copy of this document is available for your perusal from the school Principal.

WHO CAN ENROL IN A CATHOLIC SCHOOL?

Children from all families who are prepared to support Catholic ideals and principles may be considered eligible for enrolment in a Catholic School.

Priority for enrolment in a Catholic school is given in the following order:

·Children of Catholic families, who are actively involved in the St Agnes’ Parish.
·Children of Catholic families residing in other parishes, such families being actively involved in their home parishes.
·Children of families affiliated to churches in communication with the Roman Catholic Church.
·Children of Catholic families residing in the Parish
·Children of Catholic families residing in other Parishes
·Children of Orthodox or other Christian families
·Children of families of other religious convictions.

"Catholic Families" are defined as families in which at least one parent is a Catholic or in which children have been baptised Catholics.

This presupposes that there will be no discrimination against Catholic children of marriages of mixed faiths, or single supporting parent families, and presents a challenge to schools to take into account the particular needs of such children.

ST. AGNES' ENROLMENT COMMITTEE

The Committee will be made up of the Parish Priest, the Principal and the Assistant Principal.

ENROLMENT PROCESS

·An Enrolment Form is picked up from the office and completed. (ALL information requested must be provided fully and honestly - failure to do so will result in the reversal of any decision made).
·When the form is returned, an interview with a member of the school Executive for parents AND child will be arranged at the Principal's discretion.
·After this interview, the applicant will arrange to meet the Parish Priest for a formal interview.
·Once the priest has stamped the Enrolment Form, the child will go on the list to be considered for enrolment.
·Confirmation of enrolment will be sent to the families mid June and a $50.00 fee is to be paid.
·An Information Morning for parents and children will be held in November.

SPECIAL NEEDS

Full details of any special needs must be provided on the Application for Enrolment form, along with supporting documentation, prior to the interview with the Principal.

N.B: THE ENROLMENT OF A NON-CATHOLIC STUDENT AT A CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL DOES NOT GUARANTEE ENROLMENT AT A CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL.
